Not sure whether to go with glazed or unglazed ceramic tile? The difference is more extensive than simple appearance. Not only do glazed tiles offer a more finished look, but they have increased stain resistance, scratch resistance, and traction, as well as decreased water absorption.

The origins of ceramic tiles date back to 4,000 BC around Egypt and Mesopotamia. Clay tiles would be dried in the sun, then a glaze would be added, usually copper-based. These tiles were then used to cover their floors.
