This is an excellent quote, and while it easily applies to adoptive families, I would propose it happens in biological families equally.

We are all unique. We have our own temperaments and ways of dealing with the world. Genetics involved or not, we can’t expect the child in front of us will ”turn out just like us.”

However, they do model us. So, if they see us taking the time to observe how they learn best and adjusting our parenting style to communicate with them most effectively, not only will life flow smoothly for that household, but they’ll offer that kind of patience and attention to others in their world as they grow.
