Update on Integra Type-R’s k20a2:
-motor stripped of accessories
-pulled timing components
-camshafts and head removed
-oil pump and pan removed
-pistons and rods removed

So what’s the deal?:
This k20a2 had stage 2 cams installed by the owner, now this isn’t a problem if the timing tensioner is upgraded to withstand the more aggressive cams. Customer did not know this would be an issue, other than that the oil pump failed which assists said tensioner. This caused the timing chain to jump a few teeth as well as a tensioner guide to break. Luckily for him the valves didn’t get bent, I had the head sent to a machine shop to be tested and cleaned. Condition of rotating assembly is good but bearings need replaced for crank and piston rods. Right now the customer and I are just waiting on parts.
