Tonight Jewish families will light the first candle on the menorah in celebration of the first night of Hanukkah, a symbol of light and resilience.

During this challenging year, in the dark of a Maine winter and in the middle of a devastating pandemic, the lighting of each candle on the menorah provides more light in the world, even symbolically, and the hope and anticipation that tomorrow will be warmer and brighter than today.

No matter how or what you celebrate this year, I wish you a season filled with peace and joy, and a new year filled with love and light.
