Dethroning the god of Self

What fuels the hatred for Christ and His saints? Is it not satanically “super-charged flesh?” The self-absorbed, the self exalting, the self serving hate the Light for fear of their narcissistic darkness being exposed, therefore they hate the ekklesia, the bearers of the Light.

“This is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. (Jn. 3:19-20)

Think it not strange. As we address the ungodly culture, perpetuated and defended by wicked leaders, it merits saying this again, leaders are empowered by the consent of the governed—knowingly or unknowingly. Like ancient Rome, the people are lulled to sleep by subtlety and incrementalism—given “free bread and the circus;” seduced by benefits and distracted by entertainment as the wicked puppet-masters enslave them. They are made into mind-controlled human resources—becoming “useful idiots for the system.” In this manner, the masses are relegated as slaves to self, and in turn, slaves to sin leading to death. They are preoccupied by the,

“lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life.” (1 John 2:16)

King Solomon in all his wisdom described this as chasing the wind—the pursuit of emptiness, like a living co**se chasing vanity. The illusion!

"I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind." (Ecclesiastes 1:14)

This vicious federation of Satan with “the god of self”, are broken by the bold proclamation of the gospel IN POWER, and a clarion call to repentance that CUTS TO HEART.

When “self” is dethroned, it disarms the enemy’s main access point and power, giving every hearer an opportunity to make a faith-filled decision to surrender to Christ, the Giver of Life, or reject Him.

Times of refreshing come when the god of self is displaced by the revelation and acceptance of SELFLESS LOVE displayed on the cross. The born again, regenerated heart overpowers self, bending the will to the supremacy of Christ—in the fear of the Lord.

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord…”(Acts 3:20)

Our burning devotion of love for the King eclipses the cravings of the flesh.

Being the ekklesia of Christ is going to cost us everything—to GAIN everything IN Him. May we see beyond the sacrifice—embracing courage on the journey to receive:

1. Eternal life—being reconciled with God,
2. Sonship paradigm—healthy identity,
3. Knowledge of the splendor of Christ’s beauty,
4. Revelation of the “judgement seat of Christ,”
5. Our promised glorified bodies—the “blessed hope.”
6. Eternal approval of our Heavenly Father.

What we gain in Christ transcends the temporal cost of suffering—receiving joy in the “fellowship of His sufferings.”

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”(2 Cor. 4:17)

When it comes to government, understand, kingdom ambassadors are not rebellious, they love divine order, but refuse to bow down to any authority contrary to Christ. They are the called out ones who seek peace with all men, if possible. Yet above all, their hearts are devoted to the supremacy of the King of kings and His righteous government. In other words, they obey God above man no matter the consequences! They do not compromise, falter, or display cowardice in the face of oppressors and tyrants, following the example of the saints of old:

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Dan. 3:16-18)

“We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” (Acts 5:29-32)

IS THIS HAPPENING CONSISTENTLY IN OUR GATHERINGS?

"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (James 5:13-16)
