What began as an ordinary drive on a Texas highway ended in a tragedy that took four lives in seconds.

On a November morning along U.S. Highway 87, four women were traveling together in a Nissan Altima: Lakeisha Brown, Breanna Brantley, Myunique Johnson, and Taylor White. Like millions of drivers each day, they were simply trying to get where they needed to go.

During the trip, their car suffered a flat tire.

Instead of panicking, the women carefully slowed down and stayed close to the right lane, attempting to manage the situation safely while continuing forward.

But behind them, a fully loaded 18-wheeler truck carrying thousands of pounds of potatoes was approaching.

According to reports, the truck — driven by Guadalupe Villarreal — did not slow down in time.

Dashcam footage later captured the devastating moment.

The massive truck slammed into the Nissan from behind, crushing the small sedan with catastrophic force. The impact left no chance to escape.

All four women died at the scene.

For investigators, the crash report concluded the driver “failed to control speed.”

But the families believe there may be more to the story.

A lawsuit filed after the crash alleges the truck driver may have been distracted by a cellphone and failed to notice the slowed vehicle ahead. Attorneys have requested phone records to determine whether distraction played a role in the fatal collision.
