I had the privilege of chairing the World Café session at the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) Plenary Meeting, where experts and industry leaders gathered to discuss critical topics surrounding cotton production and the textile industry. The interactive session provided a platform for meaningful exchanges of ideas, insights, and innovative approaches.
The recommendations and suggestions from these discussions will contribute to advancing sustainable cotton farming practices and improving the textile industry's efficiency. It was an enriching experience, and I am excited about the positive impact these insights will have on the future of cotton farming. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared their expertise! I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mike McCue and Parkhi Vats for their incredible efforts in organizing the World Café session at the ICAC Plenary Meeting.

We are pleased to announce the release of a publication on the microbiome of halophytes from the dried seabed of the Aral Sea. This new study delves into the unique microbial communities associated with halophytes—plants that thrive in high-salinity environments—and their potential applications for sustainable environmental restoration. The study highlights how halophytes, with the help of their microbiomes, adapt to these harsh conditions, offering insights into plant resilience. This research was a truly collaborative effort, and it would not have been possible without the expertise, and hard work of team members.
We look forward to continuing our partnership and exploring new frontiers in the fascinating world of plant microbiomes.

The project titled "Promoting Sustainable Land Management through Product, Process, and SME Development in NTFP and Agroforestry Value Chains of Central Asia (SUFACHAIN)" is a research initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project aims to integrate sustainable agroforestry systems into local land use practices and value chains in Central Asia, thereby improving product quality and marketing opportunities for local producers. The project is being implemented with the support of German and Central Asian research and SME partners, including partners from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers TIIAME, Ecobiome R&D. As part of this project, Lidia Rosenfeld, a BSc student at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, visited the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan to examine existing water management methods and the difficulties encountered by farmers. This study will help identify opportunities for developing sustainable and climate-resilient agroforestry systems in the future. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Jannike van Bruggen (Wichern) for organizing this trip, and Dr. Jahongir Hamdamov for the assistance in field trips.
