Our Story

IslandREBEL PICTURES is a film and audiovisual production company and full service and creative agency, specialized in the production of fiction films and documentaries, music videos, advertising, web campaigns, moving graphics and 3D animations. We use state-of-the-art audiovisual technology to produce high-quality movies, video and motion graphics productions. In St. Vincent and the Grenadines we support film projects or projects from fixed photography from development to distribution with careful planning, detailed budgeting and exploration for the most suitable places on the island.
The island has been used as ´location´ in´the filming of foreign productions like Disney´s ´ Pirates of the Caribbean´ franchise, which maintains the clichés and colonial narrative of ​​the “Caribbean”, refusing to reflect the indigenous culture and identity of the people. These imagined images are created by the global industrial cinema machinery, that capitalizes and distorts the narrative of Vincentians who have never seen themselves reflected on the Cinema screen.

IslandREBEL PICTURES will puts the lives of the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on their TV screen and in the cinema, using the camera as a mirror to reflect the reality on the island. The reason is to countering the colonial narrative of the country by foster the development of national identity, confronting the North American and Eurocentric neocolonial monopoly of the global mass media. The main objectives of the company are:

(1) Documentation for the preservation of indigenous Vincentian culture and heritage.

(2) Promotion and development of national narratives and fostering the collaboration amongst Caribbean, Latin American and African nations for the devolvement of their audiovisual production.

(3) The creation of training and workshop and in audiovisual production and creating sustainable cinematographic and artistic industries in the Caribbean.
