VISAR

VISAR always trains hard — but last month we took it up a notch by teaming up with the Sail Caribbean summer camp instructors during their training week. They put on two medical scenarios for our crew to respond to: a severe cut and a trip‑and‑fall.

After each scenario, we walked the instructors through what to do if they face an emergency on their boats this summer, who to call (767!), and how to keep their students safe until help arrives.

We love these joint trainings — they challenge our trainees, prepare the summer camp instructors, and build stronger connections across our community on the water.

VISAR volunteers responded to 4 incidents across the territory last month. Our volunteer coordinators also responded to 39 incidents on our emergency phone number - 767.

Breakdown of responses:
- Injury responses: 1
- Medical emergencies: 3

Incidents took place at Norman Island, Cooper Island, Virgin Gorda, Scrub Island.

At the beginning of June, VISAR hosted everyone's favorite fundraiser Swim and SUP the Sound which was a huge success thanks to our amazing sponsors. We also welcomed 3 new crew members Gemma, Jay and Madi. June also saw many training’s including two with Sail Caribbean summer camp and VISAR also attended the King's Birthday hosted by the Governor.
