At ReForm Plastic, we work with materials such as sachets, multilayer packaging, flexible plastics, and mixed plastic waste that are commonly excluded from traditional recycling systems.

Through our technology, these materials can be transformed into durable boards used for furniture, interiors, housing components, events, community infrastructure, and more.

Why aren't sachets and multilayer films recycled?

Because the math doesn't work for most recyclers.

A sachet is made of several layers of different plastics fused together — designed for shelf life and barrier protection.

Separating those layers is expensive and requires a lot of technology (if any exist at all). The end product, recovered plastic, sells for very little. So most recycling infrastructure quietly skips these materials. They end up in landfills, drains, and oceans.

These are also the plastics that dominate beach cleanups and waterway pollution across Southeast Asia.

ReForm Plastic exists because someone has to handle the plastics nobody else will. Not by trying to compete in the same market with the same logic — but by changing the math. Instead of recovering pure plastic, we use the mixed material directly, as construction-grade board.

Plastic doesn't have to be pretty to be useful.

What if low-value plastic waste could help build safer, more dignified transition housing?

In Pasig City, that idea is now a built reality.

ReForm Plastic, a social venture of Evergreen Labs, is proud to share the launch of the Pasig Modular Housing Case Study — highlighting a pilot project developed together with Evergreen Labs Philippines, the Nordic Council of Ministers, and Pasig City.

The completed prototype in Pasig Bliss III transformed approximately 2,200 kilograms of flexible and low-value plastic waste — including sachets, multilayer packaging, bubble wrap, and other hard-to-recycle materials — into a functional transition housing unit for informal settler families.

Built using around 60 ReForm boards, the unit shows how circular materials can go beyond waste diversion and become part of practical urban solutions. The home was designed to accommodate four to five occupants, with essential utilities, livable finishes, and a quality of design that challenges the idea that sustainable construction must compromise comfort or dignity.

This pilot demonstrates what becomes possible when cities connect two urgent challenges — plastic waste and housing — through circular economy infrastructure.

For Pasig City, the model offers a pathway to support families while permanent housing is being built on the land they already call home. For other local governments, it provides a replicable example of how local plastic waste can be converted into durable construction materials and used to address real community needs.
