They were also used for medical treatment, food storage, and planning combat strategies. “Tunnel in the Heart of the People”: The name comes from the fact that many sections of the tunnel system were directly connected to civilian shelters. The network was ingeniously camouflaged under haystacks, bamboo roots, animal feeding troughs, or linked to village wells. This allowed soldiers to stay hidden right among the people while continuing to fight. National recognition: In 1997, Kỳ Anh Tunnel was designated a National Revolutionary Historical Site.3.
