🌪️ 1. Devastating = very, very damaging
Example: A devastating storm broke my house.
Trick: Think “devastate = destroy” → both start with “de-”.
🌧️ 2. Torrential rain = crazy heavy rain
Example: I can’t go out in torrential rain.
Trick: “Torrential” sounds like “torrent” = a huge flow of water.
🌊 3. Storm surge = sea water rising high
Example: The storm surge flooded the beach.
Trick: Picture a wave surging forward → surge = push up/forward.
🌬️ 4. Gale-force winds = super strong winds
Example: Gale-force winds blew off my hat.
Trick: “Gale” sounds like “gà o” (shout in Vietnamese) → winds shouting loud.
⚡ 5. Disruption = big interruption
Example: The storm caused travel disruption.
Trick: “Disruption” = “dis + rupture” → something breaks apart.
