In Memory of Graham Greene (1952–2025)
Graham Greene was more than an actor.
He was a storyteller, a cultural bridge, and a quiet guardian of Native American identity.
Through his roles, he gave Indigenous characters something Hollywood had long denied them — depth, dignity, and humanity.
He refused stereotypes. He chose truth.
Whether portraying elders, warriors, fathers, or healers, Graham Greene carried Native presence with respect — reminding the world that Indigenous people are not relics of the past, but living cultures with voices, values, and wisdom.
Beyond the screen, he represented pride without anger, strength without noise, and resistance through integrity.
For many Native youth, seeing him meant seeing themselves — not as myths, but as real, resilient people.
His legacy is not only in films and awards.
It lives in every story told honestly,
every culture represented with care,
and every future generation that knows their identity matters.
Thank you, Graham Greene,
for honoring the ancestors,
for protecting the stories,
and for reminding the world that Native voices belong — yesterday, today, and always.

The Indian culture such as the great warrior, Crazy Horse, believed in lying their deceased on scaffolds, wrapping them in buffalo blankets. There to be exposed to the elements and delivered over a year or two back to nature. Then to come back as buffalo grass, and eaten by the buffalos, which would be eaten by the Sioux, thus completing the cycle. Versus the Anglo belief of burial in a metal casket preventing breakdowns over a longer time. I got this from Stephen Ambrose book of Custer and Crazy Horse.

This powerful statement resonates deeply within the hearts of Native communities. It is not just a reminder of the immense struggles that Indigenous peoples have endured throughout history, but also a declaration of resilience. Despite centuries of violence, forced relocations, and cultural erasure, the Indigenous spirit has never been broken. The survival of Native peoples today is a testament to the strength, courage, and determination of those who came before us.

The resilience of Native people is often overlooked by mainstream society, but it is through this enduring strength that we continue to thrive. The children of those who survived the genocide, the displacement, and the cultural attempts to silence them, have grown up in a world that tries to forget the painful truths of history. Yet, we remember. We are the keepers of stories, traditions, and languages that should never have been lost. We are the proof that Indigenous peoples were never gone, no matter how hard others tried to erase us.

As we move forward, it is essential to acknowledge our roots and the generations that have come before us. Our fight for our land, rights, and culture is far from over. We will continue to honor the legacy of those who resisted and survived, and with each passing day, we grow stronger. The future belongs to us—Native peoples—who stand firm, rooted in the history that others tried to forget. 🌍💪

“In the Lakota tradition, a person who is grieving is considered most waken, most holy.

There"s a sense that when someone is struck by the sudden lightning of loss, he or she stands on the threshold of the spirit world. The prayers of those who grieve are considered especially strong, and it is proper to ask them for their help.

You might recall what it"s like to be with someone who has grieved deeply. The person has no layer of protection, nothing left to defend. The mystery is looking out through that person"s eyes. For the time being, he or she has accepted the reality of loss and has stopped clinging to the past or grasping at the future. In the groundless openness of sorrow, there is a wholeness of presence and a deep natural wisdom.”
