We are pleased to announce the signing of the MoU between the USAID Kosovo Adapt Activity, and the Agjencioni per Mbrojtjen e Mjedisit te Kosoves (KEPA) / Instituti Hidrometeorologjik i Kosovës (KHMI).

🤝 This agreement signifies a commitment to enhancing climate and weather monitoring in Kosovo. By installing 12 automatic rain gauge stations, the collaboration aims to improve precipitation data collection, critical for early warnings on droughts and floods, and to bolster climate resilience across the region.

The partnership is dedicated to fostering a sustainable and resilient environment for the people of Kosovo.

🤝Join the USAID Kosovo Adapt Activity in fostering climate innovation. We welcome proposals from NGOs/CSOs, community-based organizations, foundations, companies, and business associations. Your ideas can shape climate-smart incentives and promote sustainable practices.

Proposals should focus on:

1. Developing and adopting climate-smart incentives.
2. Implementing awareness-raising activities to support these incentives.

Grant activities should range between EUR 15,000 to EUR 30,000, and last for a period of implementation between 12 to 24 months.

Day two of the "Green Wings: Conversation for Conservation" workshop engaged in insightful discussions and hands-on activities.

Today, the participants visited Lake Badovc for biodiversity monitoring through drone technology. Renowned wildlife photographer A***n Mavriqi - Photography also shared his experiences, technologies that he uses and aspirations for the future of wildlife in Kosovo.

This activity is implemented by Sustainability Leadership Kosova, and supported by the USAID Kosovo Adapt Activity, Kryeqyteti Prishtina, and Raiffeisen Bank.

👉📋During this week in Istog, representatives from Kosovo's Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the USAID Kosovo Adapt Activity held a workshop focused on developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to empower municipalities in creating effective Risk Assessment Documents and Local Emergency Response Plans.

Through collaborative efforts, participants created clear guidelines, exchanged valuable insights from Istog's ECO-Disaster Risk Reduction (Nature-Based Solutions) measures, and fostered stronger communication between EMA, Adapt Activity, and local governments. This crucial step paves the way for a more prepared Kosovo by ensuring a standardized and coordinated approach to emergency planning across municipalities.

On June 12th, the collaborative workshop between the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the USAID Kosovo Adapt Activity team is taking place in Istog. Bringing together various internal departments of EMA, and local government representatives from the municipalities of Istog and Prishtina, the workshop focused on establishing guidelines and templates for risk assessment documents and local emergency response plans. 📝

The objective is to streamline planning processes, enhance communication, and strengthen coordination with local government. By working together, we aim to create a more resilient and prepared community.
