Our Promotion of Access to Information team were highly appreciated by the Eswatini and Zambian delegation at the 2 day study tour for the robust presentations shared πŸ‘ . Adv Makgopa Madisa and Ms Mofokeng Senior Managers in the PAIA Division outlined the processes and approach applied by the Regulator in handling complaints, conducting investigations, as well as monitoring and enforcing compliance with PAIA.

The Information Regulator hosted a successful day 1 study tour on the access to information law - The Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA). The session started on a high note with the Members Adv Stroom, Mr Gwala and the CEO of the Regulator sharing the legislative history of PAIA and how we have operationalised the implementation of the legislation.

The study tour aims to provide valuable insight into strengthening access to information frameworks, enhancing compliance and fostering accountable governance. The two day session hosts two countries Zambia and Eswatini - represented by the Zambian Human Right Commission, the Eswatini Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Data Privacy Commission.

POPIA – the right to have your personal information processed lawfully.
PAIA – the right to access information held by public and private bodies when you need it to exercise or protect your rights.
