Clésinger was working within a world of white marble usually Carrara or Carrara-like statuary marble, but French sculptors also used French marbles such as Saint-Béat. LOLA BARSTOOL ​

Lola’s design is a construction of open spaces, grounded forms and fine lines. Its solid timber planes are cut with vertical apertures, creating a rhythm of weight and void, structure and lightness. Like an architectural arcade, LOLA holds presence through repetition, shadow and proportion. Leather, wood and brass work in counterpoint, each material adding warmth, precision and poise
