Throwing it back to 1985 in Cape Town.

Cape Town was already starting to take shape into the recognisable skyline we know today. Ten years later, Baker Street Properties would open its Cape Town branch and become part of the city’s commercial property story.
Back then, a few iconic buildings were still years away from changing the skyline. Landmarks like Cape Town International Convention Centre, Portside Tower, and many of the modern Foreshore developments didn’t exist yet.

In 1996, the office looked very different too. Wired desk phones. The excitement of something called a fax machine. And paper files… lots and lots of paper files.

Fast forward to 2026 and the city has established itself as one of South Africa’s leading business hubs. Most deals, marketing, and communication now happen electronically and at lightning speed.

But some things never change. Baker Street Properties' co-founders John and Dave are still working side-by-side, closing iconic deals and building on relationships formed years ago.

Oh… and the files. John still has lots of files.
