We're proud to introduce TWELVEONB, our latest residential development in Green Point, Cape Town. Designed for Blok, TWELVEONB occupies a small, infill site on Braemar Road. Our design responds directly to the site's intimate location, in a considered articulation of spatial form. It creates a fine-grained relationship with what exists, using thoughtful subtraction to add texture and character to the site. The development will comprise 50 apartments ranging from one-bedroom compact units to two-bedroom and three-bedroom duplex apartments.

This is Blok's 23rd development and the second Blok-dhk collaboration. It is designed to reflect the developer's philosophy that buildings should make a positive contribution to the interest and community of the neighbourhoods where they develop. We recently completed ONEHUNDREDONM for Blok, located on Cape Town's Sea Point Main Road.

Our precinct-led approach to urban design has influenced the shape of several neighbourhoods in Johannesburg. An outstanding example of this is at Oxford Parks, which lies on the edge of the vibrant Rosebank centre, to the north of the Johannesburg C*D.

Designed for Intaprop, Oxford Parks includes a mix of uses: offices, retail outlets and a hotel. The precinct has been designed to prioritise people in a high-quality walkable environment.

Our involvement began in 2015 when we developed the Dunkeld Public Realm Design Manual to establish the principles for a human-scale pedestrian-first precinct. The Oxford Parks Phase 1 masterplan emerged from that document, conceived to link Rosebank to the emerging retail and office node of Illovo Rosebank along the Oxford Road corridor. We subsequently delivered three buildings in the precinct, are on site with a fourth, at 20 Rosebank, and have a fifth in design development.

Our latest journal entry casts the spotlight on Ellipse Waterfall, a landmark high-rise luxury apartment development in Waterfall City, Johannesburg. The 45,000m² project comprises four residential towers with an identical footprint, delivered across three carefully phased stages. The Galileo tower (Phase 3) was the last to be constructed, which marked the development's completion in late 2025. Read the full article here: https://shorturl.at/g9Lqp

Introducing Nedbank's new HQ in the Highlands Precinct in Harare. This is our latest commercial office development in Zimbabwe’s capital. The 4,500 m² building is located opposite Highland Park Shopping Centre along ED Mnangagwa Road, and acts as a gateway into the precinct.

The commercial office will comprise various amenities for staff and visitors, including basement parking, conference rooms, an exclusive lounge for high-net-worth clients, entertainment areas and a coffee shop on the ground floor. There's an emphasis on activating the ground floor, to engage more directly with the street, creating permeability and supporting pedestrian life. The project is driven by property developer Terrace Africa and is being implemented along with our local partners, Architectural and Planning Studio (APS). It forms part of dhk's current work on the Highlands Precinct Masterplan in Harare.

Crystal Towers Bridge at Canal Walk in Cape Town is currently under construction. It's the second pedestrian bridge we're delivering in the Century City Precinct after we recently completed Otter Bridge. The new bridge is intended to interconnect three existing levels, namely the canal edge, regional mall entrance and existing Crystal Towers Bridge, with an elegant ramped spiral that provides universal access to pedestrians navigating the neighbourhood by foot or by bicycle.

These bridges add to our growing portfolio of infrastructure architecture, alongside some more unusual projects such as truck stops, fuel stations, transportation hubs and border posts in Africa.

Back-to-back champions!

The final whistle has blown on the 2026 Architectural Futsal League and we loved every minute of it. We’re incredibly proud of our team for gutsy performances over the past six weeks and for defending their title this past Friday. We’d also like to congratulate dhk Associate Binayka Rama on claiming the Ladies’ Golden Boot.

Huge thanks to Stiles for sponsoring our kit, and to all the participating studios as well as everyone involved in organising the tournament (Stiles Proud Sponsor of Archi Futsal League). We enjoyed the friendly competition and connecting with colleagues. Bring on next season!

Over nearly three decades, dhk has evolved into one of Africa’s most influential architectural studios, employing 150+ people in two offices.

Want to delve deeper into our craft, our business and what drives our design success? Join us at our open studio events in Johannesburg and Cape Town on 7 and 14 October respectively. This year, we're hosting a series of talks on ideas that interrogate assumptions, confront difficult questions, encourage robust discussion, and even challenge our own work and ways of thinking. Rather than presentations with slides, these are conversations between people.

The speakers are locked in, and we can't wait to welcome you through our doors. More details here: https://shorturl.at/8CUER
