📡 Resilient digital infrastructure has become important for economic participation, public service delivery, education, innovation and inclusion in South Africa. As individuals, businesses and institutions rely more on connectivity, ensuring reliable and accessible communications networks remains critical.

Today, ICASA joins the international community in celebrating World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2026 under the theme: “Digital Lifelines: Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World”.

As the regulator of the telecommunications, broadcasting and postal services sectors, ICASA continues to create an enabling regulatory environment that supports connectivity, resilience and inclusive digital development in South Africa.

📢[MEDIA STATEMENT]

ICASA has published draft amendments to the Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations (2015) and Spectrum Fees Regulations (2010) under the Electronic Communications Act.

The amendments follow extensive industry consultation and ICASA’s inquiry into satellite licensing, addressing areas such as satellite terminals, Earth Stations in Motion, and international operator registration.

Stakeholders are invited to submit comments by 29 June 2026 at 16:00
