Things business owners forget to tell their broker
Most business owners are not trying to hide anything. They are simply busy running the business.
But small operational changes can affect insurance cover.
Have you told your broker if your business has:
- Moved premises or added a storage location?
- Bought or sold vehicles?
- Added new drivers?
- Installed solar, generators or backup power?
- Increased stock levels?
- Changed alarm companies or security arrangements?
- Bought new machinery or equipment?
- Started a new business activity?
- Subcontracted deliveries or transport work?
- Signed a contract with new liability requirements?
These may feel like ordinary business decisions, but they can become important after a claim.
Insurance is arranged around information. When the business changes, the policy may also need to be reviewed.
A quick conversation with your broker before a loss is much easier than a difficult conversation after one.
Inscorp Insurance Brokers assists South African businesses with commercial insurance, transport and logistics insurance, fleet insurance, liability cover and practical risk reviews.

The risk always feels distant… until it becomes yours.
According to a report by MyBroadband, personal records of more than 88,000 South Africans linked to Cannabis Club Systems were exposed online, including scanned IDs and passports.
But this is not only a cannabis story.
It is a data-risk story.
Every business that collects personal information carries responsibility. ID copies, driver’s licences, employee records, client forms, proof of address documents, vehicle details and financial information all need to be protected.
When personal information is exposed, the consequences can affect trust, reputation, compliance, business continuity and recovery costs.
Cyber risk is no longer only a “big company problem”. SMEs, logistics companies, retailers, professional practices and service providers also collect and store sensitive information every day.
Business owners should ask:
What personal information do we collect?
Where is it stored?
Who has access to it?
What would we do if it was exposed?
Insurance cannot prevent a cyber incident.
But the right cyber cover can support the response, including investigation costs, legal guidance, notification costs, crisis support and recovery assistance, depending on the policy wording.
Cyber security, data privacy and business resilience are now part of responsible business planning.
