⚠️Stolen Vehicle Recovered Following High Speed Chase, Phoenix

A stolen vehicle that was reportedly taken from outside Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in the Phoenix area was successfully recovered following a high speed pursuit involving members of the Phoenix SAPS TRIO Crime Unit together with KZN VIP on Thursday morning.

It is believed that whilst conducting routine patrols, SAPS members observed a white VW Polo travelling at high speed together with a Toyota Etios emerging from a gravel roadway near the parking area of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Suspecting criminal activity, officers attempted to stop the vehicles, however both fled the scene at high speed.

A pursuit ensued through various areas, during which the suspects allegedly overtook multiple vehicles, disregarded traffic signals, and drove recklessly in an attempt to evade arrest. During the chase, the suspects opened fire on pursuing SAPS members.

The pursuit came to an end when the VW Polo crashed in the E Section area of KwaMashu. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, successfully evading arrest despite an extensive search of the area by SAPS and KZNVIP Members

The stolen vehicle was recovered and will form part of the ongoing investigation. No injuries were reported during the incident.

🔥VEHICLE DESTROYED IN FIRE ON THE R102 NEAR MARSHALL DRIVE, PHOENIX

No injuries were reported after a vehicle burst into flames while travelling along the R102 near Marshall Drive on Monday afternoon.

KZNVIP Emergency Response Teams were flagged down by passing motorists requesting urgent assistance after noticing smoke and flames emanating from a light motor vehicle.

Upon arrival, responders found the vehicle already fully engulfed in flames. While notifying the Fire Department, members of a nearby business premises assisted by deploying a fire hose in an attempt to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.

Through the combined efforts of those on scene, the fire was brought under control until the arrival of the Fire Department, who then ensured the scene was rendered safe. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Traffic in the area was temporarily diverted to ensure the safety of motorists and emergency personnel while operations were underway. The exact cause of the fire cannot be confirmed at this stage.
