Yesterday, 4 June, Saldanha Iron Ore Terminal reached a major milestone with the successful testing and commissioning of Tippler 3.

A tippler unloads iron ore from rail wagons and transfers it through hoppers onto conveyor systems for onward handling, stockpiling, and ship loading. The commissioning of Tippler 3 marks the culmination of years of planning, engineering, and ex*****on by teams across the terminal. The tippler operates alongside a dust handling plant that captures dust during the tipping process, supporting cleaner and more efficient operations across the terminal.

Tippler 3 incorporates advanced systems integration that links planning and operational activities from the mines through to Saldanha Iron Ore Terminal. The integrated systems enable seamless information flow, strengthen train planning, and support on-time tipping. This capability improves coordination across the value chain, allowing teams to plan, execute, and manage iron ore movements with greater precision and efficiency.
