In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, the Department of Textile Science and Apparel Technology proudly collaborated with Beyond Limits – Neurodiverse Support on a meaningful Project-Based Learning initiative.
The first workshop, held at the Ritson Hotel School on 07 April 2026, marked the beginning of a special partnership with Beyond Limits, an inspiring all-women-led company dedicated to making a difference. This impactful project focuses on the design and development of weighted sensory blankets for neurodivergent children, promoting comfort, calmness, and inclusion.
Second-year Textile students and third-year Clothing students are actively involved in collecting and repurposing textile materials, giving them a second life through sustainable innovation. By transforming these materials into weighted blankets, students are not only enhancing their technical skills but also contributing to a compassionate and socially responsible cause.
This collaboration embodies the spirit of sustainability, inclusivity, and experiential learning—empowering students to create solutions that truly matter.
