In light of the current corona virus outbreak in South Africa, we here at Biodynamics you can trust that our patients’ health and safety is our primary concern and we are doing everything we can to avoid contamination and still move forward with what we do.
This national pandemic has caused many major sporting events such as the Two Oceans Marathon to be cancelled. We know that many runners were looking forward to it but we are here to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We urge everyone that has been preparing for these events to utilise this time to improve your personal best, to fix your form or deal with any pain or discomfort that you may have – so that when the time comes for you to perform then you’re .
Use this time to reflect on where you are and where you believe you can be and let us help you get there.

Every now and then it's a really good idea to take a step back and really reflect on how your body is performing during daily activities. Does any specific muscle or joint hurt during or after doing something specific? This is such an important question to ask yourself so that you can maintain healthy body function!
Do you know that your body is an excellent communicator? If something isn't functioning the way it should be, your brain sends signals to the rest of your body to let it know. Despite this your body is resilient and will still try to carry out normal function using compensatory patterns of movement that are usually detrimental to overall body function.
Compensation patterns can only work for so long until something eventually breaks down. Your weakest link in your kinetic chain will usually be the first to suffer an injury. This is a clear sign of your body telling you it's compensating for something that's wrong.
Some of the things you should look out for include:
1. chronic muscle tightness regardless of how much you stretch.
2. unusual tenderness in the same muscles time and time again.
3. that one area of your body - be it a specif muscle/ muscle group or joint - that is always sore during or after an activity.
4. having the same recurring injury.
Your body is one big chain and if one link is a little weaker than the rest then your whole chain is at risk. If you suspect your body isn't functioning as it should then give us a call and let us help you out!

If you are suffering from any pain - from your neck down to your toes - it could be either a shoe causing problem or a biomechanical problem.
Treating the problem will:
1. Reduce the symptom/s causing the problem
2. Reduce compensatory movements causing incorrect alignment
3. Reduce pain and/or discomfort
4. Reduce the risk of injury
Pay us a visit and let us do an analysis of your gait and biomechanics. This will help us identify the root of the problem and aid us in helping you the best we can either with a pair of custom made (to your body) orthotics or a pair of new kicks!
