Some stories come full circle.

Vondeling Wines is delighted to welcome acclaimed winemaker Callie Louw as consulting winemaker and viticultural advisor.

A champion of vineyard-driven wines and one of the Swartland's most respected voices, Callie returns to familiar soil. He was, in fact, Vondeling's very first winemaker, crafting the inaugural vintages of Babiana white blend in 2005 and 2006.

Nearly two decades later, he returns to lead the winemaking and vineyard direction of Vondeling, while continuing with his own project at Sonkop.

Working from the vineyard through to the cellar, Callie will be responsible for shaping Vondeling’s wine, with a focus on farming, site expression and wines that speak clearly of the Paardeberg.

His return comes at a significant moment. As Vondeling prepares to release the first estate wines from Vrymansfontein's vineyards, alongside some exciting planned changes of the Vondeling range, a new chapter begins for both properties.

Rooted in a shared passion for farming, wine and the unique character of the Paardeberg, this partnership reflects a belief that great wines begin in the vineyard and are guided with restraint in the cellar.
