THE HOME OF FINE BOOKS The village bookshop with a city selection

What a treat to have , and Mike Nicol in the shop after their talk.

Debates ranged from daily word counts and the potential chaos of AI, to movie rights and whether surfing (Mike) constitutes research.

All three mentioned the massive tenacity required to become a published author; Tony reckons if he got a tattoo, the one would be Show don’t tell, and the other, Trust the process ✍🏼

Amid the hilarity (lullaby research to soothe a hen’s PTSD) 🪿Sally’s book delves into the ongoing poaching of succulents and our disconnection from nature. As she said, ‘I want to look for viable happy endings to the poaching crisis.’

We have all these wonderful books in store, you’ll find us on High Street.

📦 The arrival of new boxes is always a thrill, especially on a Friday!
Each delivery tends to be a mix of customer orders, hot-off-the-press newbies and something quietly beautiful, like Seascraper by Benjamin Wood.

Here’s what John’s just unpacked; much more to come in the weeks ahead:

📖 The Light Remains by Samantha Keller
📖 Art Cure by Daisy Fancourt
📖 Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
📖 Grootbos Florilegium by Sean Privett and 44 Botanical Artists
📖 The Myth of American Idealism by Noam Chomsky & Nathan J. Robinson
📖 When the Cranes Fly South by Lisa Ridzén
📖 Seascraper by Benjamin Wood
📖 How the World Works by Noam Chomsky

Happy weekend reading ❤️
