Midnight call for a Southern African python in a chicken coup.

On Saturday night just before midnight I recieved a call for a python that was stuck in a chicken coup in Embo near Hillcrest after eating a chicken. Fortunately the residents of the house called for help having it relocated instead of resorting to more grim measures. By the time we arrived the python had regurgitated the chicken out of stress due to the commotion around it which is clearly illustrated in the video. An easy catch as the python was confined to the coup.

The python was safely released in a game reserve.

Please note Southern African pythons are protected by law and are not allowed to be killed.

Releasing the cobra in a natural habitat far away from people. The chicken heard in the video is an escapee who has obviously ventured far away from his home.

Recieved a call for a Mozambique Spitting Cobra in Durban this evening. Straightforward catch as the caller watched the snake where it was in a shed until I arrived. Very docile old chap with some battle wounds, noticeably with a stubby tail from an old injury. The snake will be released in a natural habitat far away from people.

My biggest mamba so far.

Yesterday just after 18:00 I recieved a call for a Black mamba that had gone into a family's garage in Molweni. I rushed off and luckily from the time they called me till I arrived they kept an eye on its location which made for a very easy uneventful catch. In this case they did everything right by firstly calling for assistance and not killing the poor snake and secondly keeping an eye on the mamba till I arrived, I am very grateful to these people and I hope they can influence their neighbors to do the same if they are ever faced with the same situation. This family understood the ecological importance of snakes in the ecosystem and the role they play in the food chain. Every animal has a purpose in maintaining a healthy environment.

This specimen measured 2.7m which is my biggest black mamba that I've personally caught since taking up this hobby.

The mamba was safely released this morning in a suitable habitat.

1st Black mamba of 2024 for me.

Caught inside a cabinet in an outside storeroom on a property in Embo, Valley of 1000 hills. Had 16 people watching the catch so was relieved to find the snake otherwise it would have been quite a long conversation reassuring the crowd that the snake was long gone.

The mamba was safely released in a suitable natural habitat.
