Diesel tank explodes while being worked on.
Midlands EMS Rescue Medics, along with Midlands EMS crews, were dispatched to the Mpophomeni area after reports of a diesel tank explosion whilst being worked on.
Upon arrival, crews found that one person had sustained severe life-threatening injuries as a result of the explosion. Advanced Life Support interventions were immediately initiated, and the patient was placed on a manual ventilator at the scene due to the critical nature of their injuries.
Rescue medics worked rapidly to stabilise the patient before preparing them for transport. Once stabilised, the patient was transported under continuous Advanced Life Support care to a nearby specialist hospital for further treatment and ongoing medical management.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not known at this stage.

Medical Emergency Leads to Airlifting of Patient
Midlands EMS Howick crews were dispatched to a serious medical emergency in the Howick area earlier today.
Upon arrival on scene, paramedics found a patient suffering from a life-threatening medical condition requiring urgent advanced life support intervention. Crews immediately stabilised the patient while additional emergency resources were activated.
Due to the critical nature of the patient’s condition, a decision was made to request the assistance of the Netcare 911 Aeromedical Helicopter for rapid transport to definitive medical care.
The patient was successfully airlifted from the scene to a specialist hospital for further treatment and ongoing care.

Truck loses control, takes off-ramp, and plunges down embankment.
Midlands EMS Howick crews, together with Midlands EMS Rescue Medics, were dispatched to the N3 southbound Peter Brown off-ramp following reports of a serious truck accident.
Upon arrival on scene, crews discovered that a truck had veered off the roadway and gone down a steep embankment. Due to the difficult terrain and challenging access to the scene, specialized rescue medics worked alongside paramedics to safely reach the injured patient.
Rescue teams carefully made their way down the embankment and began assessing and treating the patient on scene. Once the patient had been stabilized, rescue medics and paramedics worked together to safely extricate the patient from the embankment and transport them to a waiting ambulance nearby.
The patient was then transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment and care. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown at this stage and will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
