Choosing an Agent

When deciding on an agent / agency,-

Firstly make sure that they are accredited. The agency as well as the agent should be registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board. See www.eaab.org.za. This is for your protection when planning for the worst and hoping for the best as they can force agents to act accordingly and you would have recourse against them.

Secondly, consider a nationally branded company. This will give your property online adverts the most exposure as it's not just one agent trying to sell your property but all his colleagues in his office as well as agents in other areas who have Sellers who may be wanting to move to your area.

Thirdly, look at the agents current listings, this will give you an idea what your advert would look like (Hopefully with as much meaningful information as possible) and that they are an expert in your type of property.

Finally, I definitely believe that you need to get an agent who has sold many properties making use of their expertise. Surrounding yourself with people you can rely on and trust.
