The KwaZulu-Natal Fire Protection Association the recognised Umbrella Fire Protection Association for KwaZulu-Natal

03/06/2026

As fire season preparedness activities continue across KwaZulu-Natal, a second SEAT (Single Engine Air Tanker) loading training exercise was successfully conducted yesterday at Sevenoaks Hill Airfield.

This hands-on training provided an opportunity for aviation support crews and operational personnel to practise the safe and efficient loading of firefighting aircraft, ensuring that teams are ready to respond when wildfire incidents occur.

The effectiveness of aerial firefighting operations depends on much more than aircraft availability. Well-trained personnel, efficient loading procedures, strong communication, and seamless teamwork are all critical factors that contribute to rapid response times and successful fire suppression efforts.

Regular training exercises such as these help improve operational efficiency, reinforce safety standards, build confidence among personnel, and strengthen coordination between all role players involved in wildfire management.

The KZN FPA extends its appreciation to everyone who participated in the training. By investing in skills development and operational readiness before the season begins, we are collectively enhancing our capacity to protect lives, property, infrastructure, and natural resources throughout KwaZulu-Natal.
