1) Settings > About Device > Software Info
2) Tap "Build Number" 7 times

Tadah! You have unlocked developer mode. Now exit and go back to settings. You'll see there is a new option called Developer Options.

3) Settings > Developer Options

Scroll down until you find the following two settings:
Window Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale

Change their scale to .5x or switch it off entirely. Your phone should feel a lot more responsive!

NOTE: Don't fiddle with the other developer settings unless you know what you are doing!
