Why do children start disrespecting their mothers? Most people think the problem starts with the child, but very often it starts much earlier. It starts with what the child sees at home every day. When the father is constantly absent, emotionally unavailable, or leaves all the responsibility to the mother, she becomes the one carrying everything. The cooking, the cleaning, the discipline, the schedules, the worries, and the endless responsibilities. To the child, mom can begin to look like the person who is always correcting, reminding, and enforcing rules. And that is where frustration often gets directed. But there is something even more damaging. When a father disrespects the mother. When he talks over her, mocks her, dismisses her opinions, or shows the children that her words do not matter. Children do not learn respect from lectures. They learn it from what they see. If a father does not respect the mother, the child quickly learns that she can be ignored too.
