🚴‍♂️ Amashova Training Update #2 – Survived... Just! 🚴‍♂️

As most of you know, I'm in full training mode for the Amashova on 19 July.

The master plan?

Get up before the sun, load the bike, head to the Durban Promenade, and clock a respectable ride.
✅ 18km done!

Now for the truth...

About halfway through the ride, my backside started negotiating a peace treaty with the bicycle seat. By the end, it had officially resigned! 🍑😂 Every bump felt like I'd ridden over Mount Everest.

Of course, no trip to uShaka is complete without buying Pam's and my Mississippi Mud fudge. That's become a tradition!

Then came the real challenge...

Walking down the stairs after buying the fudge! 🤣

I honestly thought my legs had gone on strike. They simply refused to support me and kept threatening to buckle underneath me. If anyone had been watching, they'd probably have thought I'd just completed the Tour de France... or had one too many at the pub! 😂
I also noticed something while riding.
I'd cheerfully ride past people with a huge smile...
"GOOD MORNING!" 😃
A few smiled back.
A few greeted me.
But most looked at me as if I'd just increased their bond repayment! 😂

Come on, people... a smile costs absolutely nothing.

The trip back to Pinetown wasn't much easier either. Roadworks everywhere, especially near Pavilion. I'm convinced I could have got home quicker on my bicycle than by sitting in all that traffic! 🚴‍♂️😂
Training continues...

Although next time, I might need a softer saddle, stronger legs... and possibly a wheelchair for the stairs after buying the fudge! 😂🚴‍♂️
Roll on Amashova 2026... I think! 😅
