Join the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria for the 2nd Dialogue on Poverty and Human Rights, exploring how a human rights-based approach can drive more just, inclusive and accountable responses to poverty in Africa.

This webinar will feature a keynote address by Prof Elena Carolina Díaz Galán, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, and opening remarks by Hon. Mudford Zachariah Mwandenga, Commissioner of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) and Chairperson of the Working Group on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

The Disability Rights Unit at the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria Faculty of Law, officially opened its Regional workshop on the African Disability Protocol and encouraged participants to continue advancing the rights of persons with disabilities.

The regional workshop aims to strengthen the ratification and implementation of the African Disability Protocol. In the room are experts, practitioners, government representatives, national human rights institutions, organisations of persons with disabilities, and academia to deepen understanding of the Protocol, explore the barriers faced by persons with disabilities in Africa, and develop practical strategies to advance disability rights at national and regional levels.

Over two days, participants will examine advocacy, legislative reform, strategic litigation, and engagement with regional human rights mechanisms to accelerate the Protocol's implementation across the continent.
