Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner in Ancient Greece

They had three main meals in ancient Greece. Their first meal of the day was breakfast. They had this meal in the morning like we do. The food they had at this meal was a little different then breakfast now. They had barley cake, eggs, barley porridge, grapes, myrtle berries, sun-dried grapes, and figs. Then their next meal was lunch, the same as us. They had this at the same time we do. The Greeks had many things for lunch, cheese from goats, bread, sea food, barley loaves, wheat bread, salted or smoked fish, and boiled eggs. Seafood was a big thing in ancient Greece because Greece is surrounded by water on tree sides.

Their last meal of the day was an evening meal. They had this around the same time we do. This meal they had a lot. They had things like, mountain herbs, baklava, leeks, hares, pigeon, onions, soup, pomegranates, thrushes, chicken, pears, chick peas, hedge hogs, beans, lentils, and sausage. The Greeks also had salad a lot. In some of there salads they had, lovage leaves, oranges, pepper, salt, water cress, celery, ambrosia, and olives. Then they had three main things to drink. They had milk, wine, nectar. As you can see the Greeks had meals like the ones we do and they had many different kinds of food. As you can see though, most ingredients are fresh herbs and fruits and vegetables and sea food. The most important tip is to keep your food raw and fresh.
