When you get the chance to collaborate with a woman who has shaped an entire field of research, you pay attention!
Working with Professor Janice Limson on the commemorative publication for the Distinguished Professor Tebello Nyokong, has been an incredible experience – not just from a professional standpoint, but on a human level too.
Working alongside the Rhodes University Researcher and Lecturer, was inspiring and grounding. Distinguished Professor Nyokong is a reminder of the impact that dedication, curiosity and scientific excellence can have on the world.
And all from the platform on one of our smallest universities - a remarkable woman with an incredible legacy.
I am so proud to have been afforded the opportunity to create the Dear Professor Nyokong publication that celebrates the 30 year teaching career of one of our country’s brightest scientists!
Congratulations on the Tebello Nyokong Institute for Nanotechnology Innovation.

Tekano Health Equity commissioned Design Aid to design their 2021 and 2022 Annual Reports. The designs are bold, colourful and serve to express the personality of the organisation. The commission was expanded to include a set of training materials that offered an opportunity to create outside the box.

Rhodes University’ Centre for Postgraduate Studies started of as an idea, a funded development programme to build the supervision skills need to support postgraduate fellows. The project saw me design training guides, supervision handbooks and a workshop annual calendar. The CPGS journey has been exciting and I look forward to our next creative collaboration.

This time of year its all about reports! Whether its an annual report or a department review report, its not just about the numbers... they need to look good too. My collaboration with Rhodes University has presented me with an opportunity to create some really engaging reports.
My favourite is the Rhodes University Tapestry, commissioned for the Senate Hall. It is a beautifully crafted series of traditional tapestries depicting the history of the town of Makhanda.
Thank you Rhodes University, our collaboration has been inspiring and I look forward to the next decade!

A few recent projects for Frayintermedia from UNDP Rwanda. The design and layout of their two most recent Annual Reports which outlines the amazing work they are doing in support of the development and growth in Rwanda.
Along with the 2021 and 2022 Annual Reports was a set of 10, sector-focussed investment strategy/offering brochures which included a two page summary for each.
Sometimes it is worth taking the initiative and creating something different for a client, my ‘insight’ on the UNDP Rwanda monthly newsletter.

A secret passion of mine is packaging, I am known to buy items just because I fell in love with the box, wrapper or its label. There is something so inspiring in seeing the craft and skill expressed in an engaging label or packaging design. Whilst these are not retail labels or packaging designs, they are still presented to customers in store to choose their Bobble combinations. In each instance I hoped to capture the essence of each fruit infusion through the use of rich intense colours and graphics that expressed the vibrancy of the flavours.

Creating logo is only part of the job, building a look and feel that is consistent across multiple platforms and substrates whilst ensuring a singular visual and message is vital. For Bobble Tea we created a gazebo, outdoor menu and banner flags to ensure the brand is a visible as possible at outdoor events - across these elements the look is consistent, its bold, youthful and busy.
