We’re incredibly proud to be supporting Rainer Zietlow, eight-time Guinness World Record holder, on his ambitious mission to break the world record for the most countries visited in a single trip in an electric vehicle.

Driving an all-electric VW ID. Buzz, Rainer is proving that EVs aren’t just for short city commutes. They’re built for real adventure, real distance, and real impact.

His South African journey has already taken him from Durban to Kokstad, Mthatha, Uitenhage, and Johannesburg, where he stopped by our new GridCars offices to meet the team and power up.

Now he’s heading onward to Eswatini and Mozambique, continuing his epic global tour, one charge at a time.

This journey isn’t just about records. It’s about showing the world that electric mobility is ready, reliable, and capable of connecting countries, communities, and continents. And we’re proud that the GridCars network was chosen to help power his route across Southern Africa.
