Ikemeleng environmental development and justice

Dear community of Ikemeleng, nearby communities and visitors

I hope this finds you well, on 20 September 2026 a group of youth under Ikemeleng environmental development and justice organisation and stakeholders went next to Kroondal mine where the is a pump station in side mine facility and out side where the youth went the Kroondal mine is discharging toxic water from Tailings storage facility to a river that is being use by the community of Ikemeleng and we found out that water is not safe for us healthy and ecosystem.

our message to you is don't drink that water at dikwene river next to makokosi and don't let children playing with that water and don't even use it for spirituality

and in 21 September 2026 youth also took test of Ikemeleng tap water and the water is safe to drink and we're still trying to organise watercan to come and check because we're not 100% sure if that water is safe because with other method of testing is not 100% health but safe to drink

my question is why is it easy for mines to break the law and still don't get arrested or close.

the Republic of South Africa constitution says everyone has a right to safe water, land ,food environment and with mines poor management of Tailing we are not safe. we need help from.
