Expecting fairness as a musician on any platform is like hoping that the hungry lion won't eat you.

You bleed into songs at 2am and wake up to an algorithm that buries you because you don’t have a label, a blue check, or a budget to pay for reach. The same playlist that preaches "discover new artists" will skip your name 100 times to put a major artist’s throwaway track on repeat. The stage gets smaller every year. The doors have bouncers called streams, charts, and editors, and your name isn’t on the list. You watch peers get copied, watered down, and signed while you’re told to "be patient" from the sidelines. Segregation isn’t always a wall. Sometimes it’s a quiet room where your music plays and nobody claps. Sometimes it’s being tagged "local" while they’re called "global." Sometimes it’s watching brands use your sound to sell and forgetting you exist when the check comes.

They want your voice but not your power. They want your culture but not your credit. They want you to create for free, promote for free, and be grateful for crumbs. And the cruelest part is how it starts to make you doubt the gift. You wonder if it’s you. It isn’t.
But here’s the truth they don’t print in the contract. Lions get full. Crowds get bored. Trends die. What doesn’t die is the song you wrote in the dark when no one was watching. Keep planting it. One person hears it and tells two. Two tell ten. Ten build a room you own. You don’t need their permission to matter. You need your own microphone, your own people, your own fire.

The industry may leave you out. Don’t leave yourself out. The world is still hungry for something real. Feed it.
