Understanding your Tyre Size:

What is Section Width? This is measured from the widest point of the outer sidewall to the widest point of the inner sidewall, excluding all markings and lettering. In this instance, the section width is 265mm.

What is Aspect Ratio? This figure represents the height of the sidewall expressed as a percentage of the tyre's width, in this instance 65% of 265. It is also referred to as sidewall height or tyre profile.

What is Rim Diameter? The letter 'R' refers to the method of construction of the tyre which in this instance is radial construction. Over 98% of passenger tyres sold today are radial. The number that follows the R refers to the rim diameter in inches (rim size), in this instance 17”.

What causes alignment to go out of specification?

Heavy impact caused by hitting something, such as a pothole, bumping a curb, or a road accident. Worn parts caused by wear and tear. Over time, parts such as suspension springs can become worn and slack, leading to a shift in the wheel alignment.
