President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at 20h30 this evening, Wednesday 13 May 2020, on South Africa's ongoing measures to manage the spread of the coronavirus through the implementation of a risk adjusted strategy.

The President's address follows a number of meetings of Cabinet and the National Coronavirus Command Council.

SAFETY – focus on RISK

Risk mitigation is the process of developing options and actions to enhance opportunities and reduce threats of spreading the COVID 19

AVOIDANCE

One way to avoid the risk of contamination of the COVID 19 is to stay in isolation (stay at home)

ACCEPTANCE

When the decision to accept the risk is in part based on an estimate or prediction, there is the risk the information incorrectly forecasts the future.

REDUCTION

Reducing the probability of occurrence or the severity of the consequences of an unwanted risk (COVID 19) is a natural outcome of risk prioritization tools.

CONTROL

The risk of contamination to the public will decline once the citizens of the countries COMPLY to the Regulations set by the President to stay at home. Therefore, for high consequence related field failures, closely monitoring field performance or establishing early warning systems may be prudent.

21 Days at Home will mean we can control the spread of the virus + face numerous challenges for the next month! That is doable.

If we don’t stay home, we will be sitting with a huge problem indefinitely - the virus spreading daily and LONG TERM economical impacts and various businesses going into bankruptcy.
