πΏπ¦ YOUTH DAY β 16 JUNE
Today, as South Africans, we commemorate Youth Day. It is more than just a public holiday or a day off from work and school. It is a day to remember the brave young people of 1976 who stood up against injustice and fought for the right to quality education and a better future.
Their courage came at a great cost, and many paid with their lives so that future generations could enjoy the freedoms we have today.
As Se Jou Se NPC, we honour the youth of yesterday and celebrate the youth of today. We also recognise that many young people still face challenges such as unemployment, poverty, substance abuse, crime, and limited opportunities. These realities remind us that the struggle for a better future is not over.
Youth Day should inspire us to invest in our young people, support their dreams, create opportunities, and empower them to become leaders who will shape our communities and our country.
Let us not only enjoy this day as a holiday, but let us reflect on its history, appreciate the sacrifices that were made, and commit ourselves to building a South Africa where every young person has the opportunity to succeed.
Happy Youth Day.

π SIGNIFICANT ISLAMIC DATES 1448 / 2026-2027 π
SΓͺ Jou SΓͺ NPC proudly shares this important Islamic calendar, highlighting key dates and occasions observed throughout the Islamic year. These sacred occasions provide opportunities for reflection, worship, gratitude, unity, and community engagement.

Whether celebrating the Islamic New Year, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (ο·Ί), the blessed month of Ramadan, or the joyous occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, may these dates inspire us to strengthen our faith and uplift those around us.
π€² SΓͺ Jou SΓͺ β Ons Staan Saam believes in building stronger communities through love, unity, compassion, and mutual support. Let us continue to stand together, care for one another, and make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.

COMMUNITY OF STRAND β WARD 100 | HARMONY FLATS VISITOR EDUCATION CENTRE
The community of Ward 100 deserves clear and honest answers regarding Contract No. 058Q/2023/24 for the construction of the Harmony Flats Nature Reserve Visitor Education Centre. Information available publicly indicates that this project was awarded at a value of approximately R55 million, and naturally residents are asking important questions.
Our concern is simple:
- What happened to the Project?
- What happened to the contractor?
- What happened to the public money?
Community members have witnessed delays and uncertainty around the site, and many residents feel excluded from the process. When projects stop, restart, or contractors leave, people deserve communication not silence.
This is not about attacking individuals. It is about accountability, transparency and respect for the community.
We call on:
The City departments responsible for this project:
-The Public Participation Department
-Subcouncil 8
-The Ward 100 Councillor
-Relevant City officials
to come directly to the community and provide:
1.A full progress update on the project?
2.Reasons for any delays or stoppages?
3.Clarification on the status of the contractor?
4.Confirmation of how public funds allocated to the project have been managed?
5.A clear timeline for completion?
The people of Strand and Ward 100 should not have to rely on rumours or incomplete information. Public participation means communities must be informed and engaged where public funds are involved.
The community is not asking for conflict we are asking for answers.
Transparency builds trust. Silence creates frustration.
Ward 100 deserves communication. Ward 100 deserves accountability.
Community Update β Strand Cemetery
On 16 May 2026, Community Leader Brent Louis released a video highlighting the serious concern regarding the lack of burial space at the cemetery. At the time, work on the new extension of the cemetery had come to a standstill after the contractor was removed from the site, causing concern among residents.
Today, 30 May 2026, Brent Louis is pleased to confirm that the City has responded to the community's concerns and has sent a contractor back to the site to complete the outstanding work. This progress will help ensure that additional burial space becomes available for families in need.
When the community becomes worried about important issues affecting their daily lives, we are here as community leaders to raise those concerns, engage with the relevant authorities, and hold the City accountable for its actions. We will continue to monitor developments and keep residents informed every step of the way.
"Together, we can ensure that the needs of our community are heard and addressed."
