Just an ordinary human doing life extraordinarily; sharing the narrative authentically.

This hits hard ~ in love, friendship, and career. We often project our hopes onto people and situations, painting over red flags with the brush of potential.

You choose a partner and ignore the misalignment because you want them to be the one. You cling to a job title, overlooking burnout, because you want it to mean success.

Clarity only comes when we remove the filter of wishful thinking. That’s when truth reveals itself, sometimes painfully, but always powerfully.

How to shift your lens:

Pause the narrative. Ask yourself the question - am I seeing this clearly, or through the lens of what I hope it is?
Look at actions, not intentions. People tell you who they are by what they do, not what they say.
Detach from the outcome. Let reality speak before your expectations finish the sentence.
Seeing clearly isn’t cynical, it’s freedom.

It broke my heart to learn that people close to me, those I believed to be kind and loving, are putting up a facade of care, while behind closed doors, they treat their own mother with coldness and disdain. It’s deeply unsettling to witness such contradictions. Our mothers gave us life. They carried us, nurtured us, and sacrificed countless dreams and comforts so we could grow into the people we are today.

To speak unkind words to the very woman who once sang you to sleep, wiped your tears, and stood by you when the world turned away, is a wound not just to her spirit, but to the very essence of who we are as human beings. Disrespect toward one’s mother is not just dishonorable, it is heartbreaking.

As Mother’s Day approaches, I couldn’t help but wonder what this day would feel like for that mother, the one who quietly bears emotional wounds from those she loves.

Let us be intentional with our love. Let us not wait for a designated day on the calendar to honor the woman who gave us everything. Let us speak kindly, listen patiently, and act with compassion.

To those who still have their mothers: treasure them. Call them, hug them, forgive them. Life is fleeting, and regret is a heavy companion.

To those who are mothers: you are seen, you are loved, and you are valued, more than words can ever fully express.

Let us restore the sacredness of motherhood, not just with flowers or social media posts, but with everyday grace.

We are not defined by how much or little we have, but instead by our character, individuality and inner beauty. These are the things that set us apart and define who we truly are.

Growing up we had less, but I had never felt more empowered than when we had nothing. Less drives you to be more, do more, want more. These experiences shaped my authenticity, vulnerability and values.
