Running battles in Kabwe's Katondo Compound

KABWE DISTRICT HOSTS EARLY WARNING SYSTEM TRAINING UNDER ECZ

KABWE – A three-day Early Warning System Training is currently underway at Palm Creek Lodge in Kabwe District.

During his welcoming remarks, Kabwe District Electoral Officer, Eng. Liftery Ndaba welcomed trainers from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) District Electoral Officers from other districts, and representatives from the

Zambia Police Service, Voter Registration Officers, Voter Education Officers. District Voter Education Coordinators, and Voter Education Trainees.

Eng. Ndaba expressed appreciation to the Electoral Commission of Zambia for its commitment and dedication to building the capacity of election stakeholders and strengthening their preparedness for the effective management of electoral conflicts.

He stated that the training comes at an important time as preparations continue for forthcoming electoral activities.
“The Conflict Management Committees play a critical role in promoting peaceful elections through the identification, monitoring, and timely resolution of potential conflicts. The Early Warning System is, therefore, an essential tool that will enable the Committees to detect emerging issues and respond appropriately before they escalate,” he said.

He encouraged all participants to actively engage in the training sessions, share experiences from their respective districts, ask questions, and make the most of this learning opportunity.
“The knowledge and skills gained over the next three days will enhance our collective ability to safeguard peace, promote dialogue, and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process,” he added.

Participants include officers from Kapiri Mposhi, Chisamba, and Chibombo districts.

The training is aimed at identifying, preventing, and monitoring conflicts, as well as strengthening resolution and response efforts across the electoral cycle.
