LUSAKA CENTRAL RECORDS MAJOR EDUCATION INFRASTRUCTURE BOOST AS HAIMBE HANDS OVER A 1x6 NEW DOUBLE-STOREY CLASSROOM BLOCK

‎10.06.26. Lusaka, Zambia.
‎Reported by: The Agency Media ✍️

‎Lusaka Central Constituency has taken a significant step toward improving access to quality education following the commissioning of a newly constructed classroom block and the completion of key rehabilitation works at two public schools in Bauleni.

‎Member of Parliament Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, SC, officially handed over a modern double-storey 1 by 6 classroom block at Bauleni Secondary School, alongside upgraded facilities at Prince Takamado Primary School. The developments, funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), reflect a growing emphasis on expanding learning infrastructure and improving school environments.

‎The classroom block, constructed at an estimated cost of K4 million, is designed to ease congestion and enhance learning conditions. The facility includes fully furnished classrooms, administrative offices, improved sanitation systems and accessibility features such as ramps to accommodate all learners.

‎At Prince Takamado Primary School, renovation works valued at approximately K1.2 million have transformed the learning environment. The project involved replacing hazardous asbestos roofing with safer materials and repainting school structures, addressing longstanding health concerns and disruptions caused during the rainy season.

‎Speaking during the handover ceremony, Hon. Haimbe reaffirmed the New Dawn Government’s commitment to prioritising education under President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, noting that infrastructure expansion is key to ensuring no learner is denied access due to limited space.

‎The interventions are expected to significantly reduce overcrowding and limit the need for afternoon sessions, thereby improving concentration levels and academic performance among pupils.

‎The upgrades at Prince Takamado Primary School were further complemented by support from the Japanese Embassy, which contributed USD 23,000 towards the renovation of ablution facilities and the installation of a solar-powered borehole, enhancing access to clean water and sanitation.

‎In addition to infrastructure development, the constituency has also scaled up efforts to support the welfare of learners. A total of 20,000 sanitary towels were procured for distribution across schools, with over 15,000 already distributed. During the event, 3,200 packs were handed over to the two beneficiary schools, reinforcing efforts to support girls’ education.

‎The projects highlight a broader strategy focused on strengthening the foundation of education through targeted investments in infrastructure, health and learner welfare.

‎Community members, local leadership, and stakeholders have since been urged to safeguard the new facilities to ensure their long-term sustainability and continued benefit to future generations.
