TEENAGE PREGNANCIES, STIs GO UP IN EASTERN ZAMBIA

The Eastern Province of Zambia has recorded an increase of 2, 600 teenage pregnancies between 2021 and 2022 among the adolescents.
The province recorded 29, 675 cases of teenage pregnancies in 2021 compared 32, 275 in 2022.
Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Paul Thole disclosed this at the official opening of Provincial Adolescent Health Indaba held in Chipata.
Mr. Thole has further revealed that a total of 673 new HIV infections were recorded, representing seven percent infection among teens.
