Let's discuss anointing oil, its usage in prayer, storage, and how to make it.
Anointing oil is a tool employed with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, not a substitute for the Holy Spirit. It's used before fasting, during illness, to protect one's home, when embarking on new endeavors, or as directed by God.
The power lies in God's name, not the oil. The oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit's power and signifies faith in God's ability to purify and consecrate. You don't need special oil from Israel or prayers from specific individuals. Over-reliance on it can make it an idol, which is not its intended purpose.
Anointing oil has historical and symbolic significance:
- It anointed kings (1 Samuel 16:1).
- Offered to God (Exodus 25:1-8).
- Commissioned individuals into their calling (Leviticus 8:30, Isaiah 61:1-3).
- Imparted blessings (Joel 1:10, Psalm 133).
- Used for sanctification (Matthew 6:17).
- Applied for deliverance and healing (Mark 6:13, James 5:14).
- Utilized in worship (Mark 14:3-9).
The specific recipe for Holy Anointing Oil in the Old Testament was reserved for the Tabernacle and Levites and should not be used elsewhere. There's no need for special oil; it's a way for believers to express their faith in Christ's finished work.
When you pray over and consecrate the oil, it becomes anointing oil, kept separately for sacred use. Feel free to send me a DM
