FILM producer and director David Kazadi, model Mwaka Halwindi, and Ruby Muzandu have pleaded not guilty to charges of producing, possessing and circulating obscene material.

The trio appeared before Lusaka Magistrates’ Court today for plea taking before Lusaka Magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli.

Mr Kazadi and Ms Halwindi denied the charges they jointly face.

Ms Muzandu also pleaded not guilty to circulating and possessing the said material.

The State alleges that between January 2023 and June 2025, Ms Muzandu circulated the alleged obscene material through a WhatsApp group known as “Trip to South Africa”.

Mr Kazadi is accused of sharing videos involving Ms Halwindi and other alleged explicit content within the same period.

After the plea, the court adjourned the matter to 24 and 25 August 2026 for commencement of trial.

Constitutional Court throws out the petition against President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA's nomination for the 2026 General Election.

The Constitutional Court is expected to deliver its judgment at 14:00 hours today in a petition challenging President Hakainde Hichilema’s candidature in the August 13 General Election.

The petition, filed by UPND member Charles Longwe, seeks to nullify the Electoral Commission of Zambia’s acceptance of President Hichilema’s nomination. Longwe argues that the party’s adoption process was conducted by officials whose mandates had allegedly expired.
