𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Inadequate external waterproofing/plaster and poor roof details
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Insufficient ventilation in wet area eg bathroom, Kitchen
𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 :Concealed pipe leaks within walls or slabs.
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Application of paint before wall surface reaches equilibrium moisture content.
𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐩: Absence or failure of Damp proof coarse(Dpc) in the foundation walls.
𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞:Remove defective paint/plaster,treat salts with neutralizing solutions and apply damp proof slurry.
𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬: Install or repair Dpc, address external waterproofing and fix leaks.
𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞: Diagnose the moisture using moisture meters and invasive investigation.
𝐑𝐞-𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡: Apply of vapour permeable paint systems only after substrate is certified dry.
𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐫𝐲:A wall should have a certain percentage moisture content before remedial works .

𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞: Painting over damp walls is cosmetic concealment not a solution.Moisture will delaminate any coating until the source is resolved.
