The World Day of Social Justice is annually marked on the 20th of February every year. The theme for this year is “Achieving Social Justice through Formal Employment”.
Did you know that over 60% of the global labor force - 2 billion people - work informally, often lacking social protection (ILO 2022). The informal economy includes ‘economic activities that are outside tax and regulatory policies’. This type of employment often times includes those most vulnerable in society including those living in poverty and does not offer the security available through formal employment.
Here at Vision HR, we have joined this global movement in pursuit of equality for all. We offer services that support small business enterprises by building capacity through strong HR Systems where everyone benefits from the economy. These services include:
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training
- Anti-Sexual Harrassment Training
- Employment Law Compliance and
- Other HR tools e.g. contract drafting, NSSA compliance
So get in touch today and we will help you with this transition.
Reminder:
✅Informal work is work.
✅All workers deserve rights & protection.
✅Workers' rights are human rights.

- Stepping out of the comfort zone
- Willingness to be flexible and take risks
- Sticking to ethical methods during hard times
- Leading where others won't
- Doing what's right even it doesn’t seem profitable

As a small business owner updating your contracts of employment is unlikely to be at the forefront of your mind. You might even wonder if this is at all necessary? Well, the answer is YES, YES, YES!
Any written agreement should remain living and breathing to reflect the current arrangement as well as to ensure that they meet legislative standards.
Here are a few reasons why reviewing your company's contracts of employment is REALLY important:
1. Changes in job description
2. Adjusted statutory minimums
3. Compensation and benefits adjustments
4. Termination clauses
5. Company restructuring such as merging
Your contracts of employment should be viewed as a form of insurance for your business. In the event of any potential claim or employment dispute, the contracts you have with your employees will be a reliable backbone.
Get in touch today and we will help you keep your employment contracts up-to-date and compliant.
